Event Description
We are honored to be a part of the Beast Crawl this year. Naked Bulb Open Mic hails from the backyard of a Fruitvale home hosting a monthly open-mic. During our sixth season of the Bulb, we have branched out into the business of making books. The first book to be published is, Strangeland by Andrew J. Thomas. Andrew has been an avid participant at the Naked Bulb. Many of his poems were birthed on our stage. If you have something to say, we have a stage for you.

Missy Church is the host of a seasonal open-mic in Fruitvale, Oakland called Naked Bulb. As a creative member of the Beast Crawl, Oakland's own literary festival, Missy participates in local art and literary events. Carla Christensen has raised kids, eyebrows, several pets, and the occasional ruckus. She can turn a phrase and flip a pancake. She hurls maxims and pasta to see what sticks, then cleans up the resulting literal and figurative messes. She writes long and short fiction, creative nonfiction, and the occasional poem, but almost never a Christmas card.

Paul Corman Roberts is the father of the East Bay poetry scene or at least one of the children. He is an active member of the Beast Crawl and hosts Passages On The Lake, a monthly reading at The Terrace Room.

A long time activist and journalist, Fred Dodsworth is finishing his Masters in Creative Writing from SFSU. A poet since childhood, Fred is thrilled his short stories and poems are finally finding the light of day and hopes to complete his first novel this coming year.

Andrew J. Thomas hails from the southern states. He is one of the founders of Beast Crawl and is proud to launch his first publication this year: Strangeland by Naked Bulb Press.

Lee Foust is a writer and performer from Oakland who has lived in Florence, Italy since the mid-1990s. Author of Sojourner, stories and poems about the mystery of place, Foust also writes fiction, poetry, and essays.
