Event Description

Originally conceived as a venue for up-and-coming graduate school writers, "Skinless: New & Raw Writing" has evolved into a showcase for newer or more challenging work from both emerging and more well-known authors.  Please note: This reading will contain adult content.

Curator: SB Stokes

Picture
SB Stokes lives and writes in the hills behind the lake in Oakland. He has a book (A History of Broken Love Things, Punk Hostage Press) and a chapbook (DARK ENTRIES, Gorilla Press + The Pedestrian Press) and is a core-founder of Beast Crawl, as well as the proud curator of this annual reading series.

Joel Landmine

Yeah, Well..., Joel Landmine's first collection of poetry, received a five star Amazon review from some dude who also gave a five star review to a 24-count box of Charleston Chews. So his poems are as good or better than a 24-count box of Charleston Chews. According to some guy in Utah.

Ari Moskowitz

Ari Moskowitz’s writing has been published in Transfer Magazine, Fourteen Hills, sPARKLE and bLINK, and Red Light Lit. He is a former Editor in Chief of Fourteen Hills. He’s currently editing a novel about finding meaning through Pearl Jam lyrics.

Xan Roberti

Xan Roberti earned her MFA in Creative Writing from Sarah Lawrence, and her MA in Education from Columbia University Teachers College.  She lives in San Francisco, where she spends her free time doing yoga, spinning on dance floors, and performing original tunes with her bluegrass guitar.  By day she teaches the subjects she studied years prior.

Siamak Vossoughi

Siamak Vossoughi was born in Tehran and lives in San Francisco. His short story collection, Better Than War, received a 2014 Flannery O'Connor Award for Short Fiction.

Arisa White

Arisa White received her MFA from UMass, Amherst. She's a Cave Canem fellow and the author of Black Pearl, Post Pardon, Hurrah’s Nest, and A Penny Saved. Forthcoming from Augury Books in October 2016 is her third full-length collection, You’re the Most Beautiful Thing That Happened.
