Event Description

Picture
Originally created as a venue for up-and-coming graduate school writers, "Skinless: New & Raw Writing" has evolved into a showcase for newer or more challenging work from both emerging and more well-known authors.
Please note: this reading will contain adult content.

Curator: SB Stokes

Picture
SB Stokes' first book of poetry, A History of Broken Love Things, was published by Punk Hostage Press in January 2014.
A new chapbook of SB's poems, DARK ENTRIES, was also published in October 2014 by Gorilla Press + The Pedestrian Press.
A fourth generation Californian, and one of the founding producers of Oakland's Beast Crawl, SB produces SKINLESS: New & Raw Writing annually at the event.

Event Readers

Cassandra Dallett

Picture
Cassandra lives in Oakland, CA. She is a Pushcart nominee and reads often around the San Francisco Bay Area. She was the winner of the March 2015 Literary Death Match. In addition to six chapbooks, she has published online and in many print magazines and anthologies such as Slip Stream, Sparkle and Blink, The Bicycle Review, Chiron Review, This Is Poetry: Women of The Small Press. A full-length book of poetry, Wet Reckless was released to good reviews, from Manic D Press May of 2014. A new book Bad Sandy will be released on Lucky Bastard Press in spring of 2015.

Charlie Getter

Picture
Most disagree with Charlie Getter's politics, from both the left and the right, or the center, not to worry, he disagrees with his politics as well. He says poems though...

Jason Johnson

Picture
Staunch Oregonian and one of the world's only lumberjack poets, Jason Johnson studied poetry at San Francisco State University's MFA program, before returning to the woods of southern Oregon to continue his dual existence.

Joel Landmine

Picture
Yeah, Well..., Joel Landmine's first collection of poetry, received a five star Amazon review from some dude who also gave a five star review to a 24-count box of Charleston Chews. So his poems are as good or better than a 24-count box of Charleston Chews. According to some guy in Utah.

Michael Hans Lawson

Picture
We all know him as "Mike the Bartender". He writes, he reads, he pours stiff ass drinks. And he makes sweet love to the microphone.

John Alfred Panzer

Picture
John Panzer screwed up, royally. One bad decision didn't cost him the man he loves; John's true talent is stringing together three or four bad decisions in a row...like good golf shots. Forgive him his writing - the wages of his betrayal, John is here to listen to Joel Landmine read anyway.
