Event Description

Mixer 2.0 brings multilingual, mother tongue, split, codeswitching, crosscultural punning because English struggles as speech so the legacy languages we carry from home, crossing borders to thrive(?) in these united states. Mixer 2.0 is every third Thursday of the month. Drink, read, listen, and dance at the Cat Club.

Curator: Sean Labrador y Manzano

Sean Labrador y Manzano lives on the island off the coast of Oakland, imagines snorkeling or canoeing in his birthplace, Hawai’i. He edits Conversations at the Wartime Café and is founder of Mixer 2.0.

Ani Tascian

Ani Tascian was born in San Francisco, but didn’t learn English until she was four years old.  A VONA alumn, her memoir  explores family history of illness and Armenian Genocide.

Monica Mody

Monica Mody is a writer and poet from India currently living in San Francisco. Kala Pani, her book of cross-genre writing, is out from 1913 Press. Find her at www.modymonica.com.

Aura Maru

Aura Maru was born in Moldova. She has a collection of poetry in her native Romanian,  du-te free (Moldova: Cartier Publishing, 2015). She is a PhD student in Comparative Literature.

Jacob Walse-Dominguez

Jacob Walse-Dominguez is an expat. He writes about LGBT rights, income and housing inequality, and the homeless youth. He lives with his husband and their imaginary dog.
