Leg Three| 8:00 PM - 9:00 PM | The Good Hop

FB Icon

Event Description

Liminal's reading at the Beast will be an ensemble piece that weaves together the writing of twelve different women/gender non-binary writers, on the theme of "Boundaries."

Curator: Gina Goldblatt

Picture
Gina Goldblatt is a New Yorker in mismatched California attire, a cat hoarder and a bunny finder, who walks dogs for money, started Liminal for the sake of preserving voice and sanity, and does aerial silks under the name Cara Coy.

Event Readers

Lyndsey Ellis

Picture
Lyndsey Ellis loves thrift stores, Jolly Rancher candies and Afro-Samba, all of which she's never written about...yet.

Liz Green

Picture
Liz Green is a professor of English and Creative Writing at Los Medanos College; they are a published spoken word poet, playwright, and essayist, a Lambda Literary Fellow in Fiction, and are currently seeking representation for their queer YA sci-fi novel.

Elise Hunter

Liza Kuney

Picture
Elise Hunter tends to a garden of ferocious succulents, works on clean energy policy, and chips away at her upcoming novel, Options & Futures, in Oakland; find out more at www.elisehunter.com

Picture
Liza Kuney is a menopausal hot-mess who, in April 2005, POOF, turned into a poet while listening to Seattle's Poet Laureate read her own work in the Moutlake Terrace Library. Having found human rights highly overrated, Liza currently works with dogs- a perfect pairing with poetry, she's happy to discover.

Bonnie Wai Lee Kwong

Raina J. León

Picture
Bonnie Wai Lee Kwong's first book of poetry is 'ravel,' a finalist for prizes by White Pine Press and New Rivers Press; her work in poetry and theater has garnered a number of Pushcart Nominations and an artist's residency at Stanford.

Picture
Raina J. León is from Philly and a member of writing communities that suffer no fools and nurture all prophets:  CantoMundo, Macondo, Cave Canem, the Carolina African American Writers Collective, and the rebellious sort of teachers and teacher educators. She has three books of poetry and a chapbook you should read; she is reading your work, too.

Ginger Murray

Norma Smith

Picture
Ginger Murray is a writer and performer. A once SF Weekly columnist and founder of Whore! magazine, she now spends far too much time in her kitchen reading political diatribes in West Oakland where the lemon trees grow.

Picture
Norma Smith was born in Detroit, grew up in Fresno, and has been living and writing in Oakland since the late 1960s.

Kelechi Ubozoh

Lenore Weiss

Picture
Kelechi Ubozoh is a Brooklyn born poet/singer/ mental health advocate who was published in the New York Times in her undergrad; she is featured in The S Word documentary which follows the lives of suicide attempt survivors in an effort to eliminate the stigma of mental health issues.

Picture
Lenore Weiss is a writer, editor, and teacher who juggles across the delicious stream beds of poetry and fiction. She currently is teaching Flash(!) at San Francisco State University. Her work embraces change.
