Fourteen Hills and St. Mary's: Get to Know Your MFA's

Event Description

Get to know your MFA’s! Join SFSU and SMC for a special hour of reading, featuring contributors and former editors of San Francisco State’s Fourteen Hills as well as distinguished alumni from Saint Mary’s College of California’s MFA in Creative Writing Program.

Fourteen Hills: The SFSU Review contributes to a vibrant literary tradition on the West Coast, committed to publishing a diversity of experimental and progressive work by emerging and established authors. 


Keith Donnell Jr., originally from Philadelphia, is the current Editor-In-Chief at Fourteen Hills. He is an MFA candidate at SFSU and holds a M.A. in English from USC.

Saint Mary’s MFA in Creative Writing Program is on the cutting edge between the traditional and experimental. For 21 years, it’s provided mentorship, a supportive literary community, and exceptional writing!  

Kelsay Elizabeth Myers (Nonfiction & Poetry ’13) is Chair of the Saint Mary’s College of California’s MFA in Creative Writing Program Advisory Board and a PhD student in Transformative Studies.

Heather June Gibbons

Picture
Heather June Gibbons is the author of Flyover. Her poems appear widely in journals. She teaches creative writing at SF State, and in public high schools, and organizes for Writers Resist.

Sheila Davies Sumner

Sheila Davies Sumner (Poetry ’12) is a writer and sound artist. She is on the staff of Omnidawn Publishing and is co-curator for the Studio One Reading Series.

Margaret Spilman

Picture
Margaret Spilman is an alumna of the SFSU MFA program and PEN Emerging Voices Fellowship. Winner of the Kirkwood Literary Prize, rewriter of rewrites, hobbyist collector of rejection letters.

Robert Andrew Perez

Robert Andrew Perez (Poetry ’11) is an alum of Lambda Literary fellowship and a recipient of the Lannan Literary Award for poetry currently in the throes of finishing a comedy.

Danielle Truppi

Danielle Truppi is an MFA candidate in Fiction at SFSU and a former Editor-In-Chief at Fourteen Hills. She has written for Write Club SF, Oatmeal Magazine, and ZYZZYVA.

Ani Tascian

Ani Tascian (Nonfiction ’15) is completing her memoir, Objects May Appear. She was a program manager for University Press Books and now teaches writing at “Take My Word For It!”


Meg Hurtado Bloom

Meg Hurtado Bloom (Poetry ’09) is a poet, creative director, and editor in chief at Hologram Press. She loves Russian novels, hotel bars, Blondie, and working on her first book.
