Event Description

Queer Azz Folkz have mad skills - often described as magical - our strategies for survival are mythic. Our queer azz readers topics cover the spectrum from colorism to black girls manifesting to the glory of polyfestos.This unique Beast Crawl session serves up deep gulps of humor along with heavy doses of honesty - and all of the disorderly conduct that queer azz unicorns in a sex shop can muster!

Curator: Pochino Press/Spectrum Queer Media

Pochino Press publishes works from the intersections where cultures meet and form new sensibilities. Spectrum Queer Media is a social justice and media literacy/advocacy group that empowers LGBTQIA communities.

Kin Folkz

Kin Folkz is the founder and host of Oakland Queer Open Mic, REVOLVE Oakland Pride Creative Arts + Film Fest and Spectrum Queer Media, published author, poet, and artivist! With a MA in Ethnic Studies (SFSU) and a MA and PhD abd in Education (Stanford University) Kin's work has been lauded by the Huffington Post and presented within and outside of the US including Japan, South Africa, and Jamaica. This Indigenous Digital Interstellar Dandy, Two-spirit Queer Mama - is a Solution Wired - Matrix moving maven.

Audacious I AM

Writer, Poet and Educator: Audacious I AM was raised in Ruleville, Mississippi and holds a BA from Rust College (Holly Springs, MS) and MFA from Mills College Oakland, CA). Winner of the Best Literary Works of 2010 in Dallas, TX, she is a founding member of the Spoken Word collective Pr3ssPlay Poets and Productions. Audacious is currently the creator and managing editor of Blues Arrival: Stories of the Queer Black South & Migration.

Sampson

Sampson is an experience, a down to earth comedic force of nature, and one of the most celebrated black LGBT entertainers today. An award winning comedian and activist, he's appeared on MTV, VH1, BET and TV One, his highly lauded comedy special "That B*@&! Better Be Funny" and a new documentary "A Tough Act To Follow". His comedy offers riveting observations on politics, religion, sexuality-- you know, all those things you aren't suppose to talk about in polite company.
