Event Description

Swill is a magazine. A Swill reading is an event: no rules, no limits, just good writers reading their work. There may be sex, violence is pretty much guaranteed, and that’s just the audience.

Curator: Rob Pierce

Event Readers

Sean Craven

Picture
Sean Craven is regarded as a crime writer, a science fiction writer, and a horror writer. He earned this reputation with his memoir work. His solo gallery show was referred to as the only authentic current psychedelic art by a writer who worked with Terence McKenna and Alexander Shulgin, and those pieces were the subject of an  interview on a Scientific American website. He's performed with Margaret Cho, who called him 'too intelligent to be sane' in her first book. He is catnip for shrinks, because most people as crazy as he is aren't fun to be around. And he may be the world's nicest nihilist.

Mike Monson

Picture
Mike Monson is the author of the novellas What Happens in Reno, The Scent of New Death, and the upcoming A Killer's Love. He is also the author of the best-selling crime novel Tussinland. He is an editor at the crime fiction magazine All Due Respect and the co-Publisher of All Due Respect Books. He lives and works in Modesto, California.

Renee Asher Pickup

Picture
Renee Asher Pickup is a mellowed out punk rocker living in Southern California, she's a podcaster, Society & Culture editor at Dirge Magazine, and class facilitator at LitReactor. Her fiction can be found in places like Solarcidal Tendencies, All Due Respect, NewMyths, and others. She writes dark stories about flawed people and stands by the statement that From Dusk Til Dawn changed her life.

Rob Pierce

Picture
Rob Pierce is the author of the novel Uncle Dust (All Due Respect Books), and the editor of Swill Magazine. He has been nominated for a Derringer Award for short crime fiction, and has had his stories published in Flash Fiction Offensive, Pulp Modern, Plots With Guns, Revolt Daily, Near To The Knuckle, and Shotgun Honey, among others. Not a sociopath, he loves you and only you.

Shawna Yang Ryan

Picture
Shawna Yang Ryan teaches creative writing at the University of Hawaiʻi at Manoa. She is the 2015 recipient of the Elliot Cades Award for Emerging Writer, given by the Hawaiʻi Literary Arts Council. Her second novel GREEN ISLAND will be published in February 2016 by Knopf.
